From animating 3D models to leading UX at IBM—it was never a straight line
I completed my bachelor's degree in information technology in 2017. My technical background sparked my interest in how technology works behind the scenes, while I was also drawn to visual thinking and problem-solving.
After graduation, I started freelancing, which helped me explore areas like graphic design, 3D modeling, and 2D animation, building strong visual design fundamentals.
In 2019, I joined a startup to work on a mobile application called Top Parent as a UI designer. This role introduced me to tools like Figma, usability testing, and user-focused design validation. I learned to move quickly, collaborate with developers, and balance user needs with business priorities.
In 2021, I joined Xoriant, where my role evolved to full UX responsibilities. I helped build and scale their design system for the intranet portal Xornet, focusing on reusable components, consistency, and scalable design patterns.
In 2022, I worked with IBM on their enterprise product IBM Maximo, an asset management application. I focused on identifying usability challenges, understanding complex workflows, and delivering design solutions for mobile and enterprise users. This experience strengthened my ability to design for complex ecosystems and collaborate with larger teams.
In late 2025, I relocated to the Netherlands, bringing that IBM enterprise background with me. I'm now based in Amsterdam, legally authorized to work here, and actively looking for my next senior UX challenge at a B2B company where design is taken seriously.
To summarize, my journey started with visual design, evolved into product and UX design through startup experience, expanded into system-level design thinking at Xoriant, and was further strengthened through enterprise-scale product work at IBM Maximo. I’m excited to bring this combination of technical understanding, enterprise product experience, and user-centered design approach to new challenges and teams.

A bit more about the person behind the pixels.
I grew up in Pune, India, where I studied engineering in IT—and spent most of my free time learning Blender, After Effects, and anything visual. The engineering background gave me a systems mindset; the design obsession gave me everything else.
Since moving to the Netherlands, I've been genuinely surprised by how much I appreciate Dutch directness. In design reviews, people say what they think. No diplomatic hedging, no endless approval loops. It makes the work better and faster, and it suits the way I think.
Outside of work, I'm curious about the intersection of AI and design ethics—how do you design interfaces for AI products that are transparent and don't mislead users? I write about this occasionally on my blog. I'm also a quiet observer of cities and how people navigate public spaces—it's probably why field research with technicians in their actual work environments felt so natural at IBM.
Ashok had an outstanding year and a great level of understanding about mobile and our challenges. I've always seen you as the design owner and expert for the Technician app and its extended use cases—the very heart of IBM Maximo.
